About Brooks

Passionate about cinema, politics, and the role of video in engaging everyone in the democratic process, Brooks has spent the last several years working under Leader Schumer in the Senate Democratic Media Center. As a Video & Content Producer, Brooks is available upon request to provide video services to any Senate Democratic office, whether they want to livestream a press conference, film vertical content, create an elaborate long-form video series, consult on video gear of their own, or brainstorm new ways to use video to communicate with constituents. Brooks also generates and executes on content ideas for the whole caucus, and he develops plans to upgrade his team’s services, such as designing a new Podcast Studio.

During campaign season, Brooks has provided video and photo services for candidates like Bob Casey and Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania. In a video internship with Students for Justice in 2020, Brooks developed, filmed, and edited GOTV PSA videos, including one that was ranked as a Top 5 production.

He also has several years of experience on film and TV sets, where he has served as everything from Production Assistant and COVID Compliance Officer to Script Supervisor and Director. Whether it’s an independent short film or a Hulu commercial, Brooks loves being behind the scenes and helping to bring someone’s vision to life.

Brooks graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor’s degree concentrating in Film. As part of his senior work, he wrote, produced, and directed “Postal,” a short film about a rural postal worker obsessed with true crime podcasts. At Princeton, Brooks was an active member of the film community, producing and running sound for fellow students’ films, and he served as President of the Princeton Film Society. Outside of the film department, Brooks was a colorful Mock Trial witness, writer/director/performer in the Playwright’s Guild, shelver in the Art Library, and employee for the Ticketing Office.

Brooks was born and raised in Memphis, TN, to a family of teachers, artists, and actors.
